Long-term accommodation options

If you’re staying on in New Zealand to live and work, you’ll need to arrange your own accommodation after the 9-day trip is over. You’ll get lots of advice on how to find places to live during the planning session on day 8. Most travellers who stay in New Zealand either end up sharing an apartment with other travellers that they meet on our trips or extend their stay in a hostel. Renting tends to work out more cheaply, and you’ll have your own room, which may not always be the case in a hostel. However, hostels are more flexible if you’re looking to move around more, and lower rates can usually be negotiated for longer-term stays.

Meals

4 breakfasts, 1 lunch and 2 dinners are included on this trip. You’ll need to cover the rest of your meals, snacks and drinks yourself. This means you’ve got the flexibility to eat where and when you like, and to try a wide variety of New Zealand’s diverse cuisine. Alternatively, you can prepare meals for yourself in the hostel kitchens if you’re on a tight budget.

Kia ora - welcome to beautiful New Zealand! Meet your guide and your travel crew this evening and learn all about the amazing adventures we've got planned!

Our first stop today is at the famous glow-worm caves of Waitomo. We'll see the fairy-tale caves by boat - prepare to be amazed by the surreal underground landscape. Next stop is Hobbiton. Take a tour of the real-life movie set and enjoy a drink at the Green Dragon Inn, before continuing to Rotorua.

Today we'll discover New Zealand's thermal wonderland! Enjoy the natural hot waterfall stream of Kerosene Creek. Then we'll explore the surreal Wai-O-Tapu, filled with bright pools and volcanic craters.

Enjoy a free morning to either chill or try zorbing, one of New Zealand's exhilarating adventure sports! This afternoon, our team will help you get everything you need sorted for your working holiday in New Zealand. Then in the evening, we'll immerse ourselves in Māori culture for dinner and a traditional show!

Make tracks for the lakeside town of Taupo. We're taking a very special sunset sail tonight across Lake Taupo - cameras at the ready!

Today we're hitting Huka Falls. Marvel at the natural spectacle of tons of water thundering down from the Waikato River before enjoying some free time to try skydiving or bungee jumping!

Our next destination is New Zealand's capital city, Wellington! Get to know Wellington's city ambience better by exploring the tasty bakeries, charming cafes, cool bars and the amazing variety of restaurants.

Today we'll dive into the highlights of Wellington, starting with a cable car ride for beautiful city vistas. Afterwards, we'll visit the Te Papa Tongarewa Museum to learn more about New Zealand's rich Indigenous history and culture. Tonight, let's get together for a final night out!

The adventure is only just beginning! For those staying on to live and work in NZ, our jobs team will be here to support you every step of the way.
