Chloe's Southeast Asia Adventure Trip

By Gap 360

Last updated: 17th April 2025

At the start of 2025, we launched our brand new exclusive Southeast Asia Adventure itinerary! On this 40 or 47-day tour, you can tick off all those bucket list activities and destinations in Southeast Asia. Chloe Walker (otherwise known as @asthechloflies on Instagram!) joined the first start date of the new itinerary. Keep on reading for a glimpse into her adventure!

I just spent 47 days on the Southeast Adventure tour and I honestly can’t believe how much we crammed in! This is everywhere we visited and what we got up to!

Thailand

Group travellers in Bangkok Thailand near Temple

We started our trip in Bangkok where we had a welcome dinner where we got to meet and get to know everyone. Over the next couple of days, we explored the temples, had a canal tour of the old city, explored the city by tuk tuk, rooftop bars and of course a night out on the legendary Khao San Road.

Cambodia

We spent an incredible week in Cambodia starting off in Siem Reap where we stayed at the most beautiful hostel with a rooftop pool. We watched an incredible sunrise over Angkor Wat, explored the nightlife on pub street, treated ourselves to a cheap massage and explored the local villages on e-bikes which was one of our favourite activities!

We then took our first sleeper bus (which was way more pleasant than I imagined) and headed to Koh Rong Sanloem where we spent 2 nights in the very gorgeous and rustic M’Pai Bay where we had the option to dive or kayak before descending on a pub crawl.

The next day, we hiked through the jungle to one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen (that we had all to ourselves!) before getting on a boat, snorkelling and enjoying the sunset before swimming with the bioluminescent plankton.

Before leaving, we helped with a beach clean-up which felt very rewarding and it was also a chance to see some sealife. We spotted clown fish and baby barracuda!

Our last stop was Phnom Penh learning about the history and the traumatic events that happened here under the Khmer Rouge regime not too many years ago by visiting the S21 Prison and Killing Fields. We rounded off our week with a pub crawl and of course some karaoke with our incredible tour leaders!

Vietnam

We started our two weeks in Vietnam in the very sweaty Ho Chi Minh City where we got to learn about the Vietnam war, visit the Cu Chi tunnels, send postcards from the central post office, try the delicious Vietnamese food and explore the city at our own pace before finishing with a drink down Bui Vien walking street.

We then spent a night on the Mekong Delta at my first ever homestay which was one of the highlights of my whole trip.

We made traditional desserts, had a sunset river cruise, visited some fruit farms and my favourite activity which was a bike ride through the village where we got to witness locals going about their daily lives. We also got to live like kings with the amount of food they cooked for us!

Next, we moved to Hoi An which I think is my favourite place in all of Vietnam. Its colourful, lantern-filled streets are just the cutest! We had a bike ride and got to experience the famous coconut boats, had an evening lantern boat ride and I got myself some tailor-made trousers from one of the many tailor shops. We also got the perfect souvenirs with ring and lantern making classes. It got a bit chillier as we moved north to Hanoi and we were back in the hustle and bustle of the city. This is one of my favourite places to people watch (especially of them trying to cross the road with the sheer number of motorbikes).

This part of the trip was very activity based. We spent a night on the Ha Long Bay Hideaway cruise which was the number one highlight for some people in the group before moving to the Ha Giang Loop where unfortunately we didn’t get as lucky with the weather but thankfully, we were in jeeps so stayed nice and dry! The clouds did clear though and we did get some incredible views. The food we had on the loop was amazing and they just kept bringing more out at every meal.

Laos

Group travellers at Kuang Si Waterfall Laos

This tiny country really surprised me and was jam packed with activities! We had one night in Vientiane where we got to learn about how Laos was the most heavily bombed country during the Vietnam war before moving to Vang Vieng which was so much fun! We had the opportunity to rock climb, hike to beautiful viewpoints and our favourite activity, tubing!

Our final stop in this small but mighty county was Luang Prabang where we got to zip line over the blue lagoon, swim in Kuang Si waterfalls and eat the most delicious food at the night markets. We also won the pub quiz at the hostel. Our randomest night out happened in Luang Prabang at the (iconic) bowling alley of all places!

Thailand

group travellers at White Temple in Chiang Rai Thailand

After being away for around 3 weeks, we looped back round into the north of Thailand where we spent our first night at a beautiful homestay where we could spot elephants in the distance before moving onto Chiang Rai which is home to the most incredible food night market I’ve ever experienced. Between us we ordered so many different dishes to try and didn’t spend more than £4! Chiang Rai is also home to some of the most beautiful temples in all of Thailand such as the White Temple which is a must see! We also visited the Golden Triangle where we got to see where Thailand, Laos and Myanmar meet.

After a busy couple of days filled with culture, we headed to the city of Chiang Mai. Here we got the opportunity to experience the legendary cabaret show which was such a fun night out! Chiang Mai has so much to offer from muay thai fights, the Grand Canyon water park, white water rafting, ziplining, cooking classes and so many other activities. Honestly, there was so much to do it was hard to choose between all the different activities!

After a very busy week, we were so excited to head South and the first stop was Krabi. Myself and a few others spent the day exploring the beautiful Railay beach, swimming in the most beautiful water and seeing wild monkeys! Finally, we headed to Phi Phi islands where we had a boat trip to visit the famous Maya Bay which is just as beautiful in real life before climbing to the viewpoint to watch the sunset over the island. Phi Phi has arguably some of the best nightlife in Thailand so naturally this is where we decided to buy each other shit shirts and enjoy the fire shows and a few buckets together! Our last stop was Phuket where unfortunately we said goodbye to a few members who were only doing 40 days.

Malaysia

Group travellers at Malaysia temple

Our first stop in Malaysia was Kuala Lumpur which is home to some of the tallest buildings in the world. We had a sightseeing day where we got to see the most famous landmarks of the city and even visit a chocolate factory. We also took advantage of some of the biggest malls and had a bit of a shopping spree (which led to some extremely full and heavy backpacks!) We also got to see the skyline by night from the Helipad bar which is one of the coolest bars I’ve ever been to.

Next, we headed to the Cameron Highlands where we explored so many tea farms, had a jeep tour up to the Mossy Forest, visited strawberry farms and so many other spots to get those pics for the gram! Our final stop in Malaysia was Malacca which is a UNESCO heritage site where we got to learn about its colonial history.

Singapore

Singapore was short but sweet. We arrived and went straight out exploring the city on a bike tour where we got to ride on the F1 track and see all the famous landmarks. We had our final supper at one of the most famous Hawker centres in Singapore where we were able to try so many different cuisines and dishes for just a few dollars!

The evening was spent in one of my favourite ever spots in Asia. We watched the nightly light show at Gardens by the Bay which was just magical, followed by the fountain show at Marina Bay Sands.

Unfortunately, this led us to the end of the tour and we had to say our goodbyes although many people did stay a few extra days and explored the botanic gardens and had a fun day out at Universal Studios.
