Trip Overview
Flamenco, Gaudi, tapas, beaches, history, and endless sunshine - Spain and Portugal are where it’s at. Explore the best of these two top European countries over 16 amazing days, from Madrid’s cultural riches and the Moorish masterpieces in Seville, to the Algarve’s golden beaches and Lisbon’s characterful neighbourhoods. Then mosey on over to magical Morocco, where Fez’s medieval tanneries, Marrakesh’s bustling souks, and the Rif Valley’s epic hiking trails will take your trip from a ten to an eleven.

Accommodation
In Spain and Portugal, 9 nights of simple accommodation in multi-share, single-sex (4-6 people) are included. In Morocco you’ll spend 6 nights in twin-share accommodation. Most of the accommodation will have shared bathroom facilities. We’ve chosen all properties based on location, character and cleanliness. You’ll stay in a mix of hostels and private rooms in local homes.
Please note: If you’re travelling as a couple, in locations where we’re using multi-share accommodation, you may be split into separate rooms.
Meals
Meals are not included in Spain and Portugal, to give you the maximum flexibility in deciding where, what and with whom to eat. It also gives you more budgeting flexibility, though generally food is affordable. Our groups tend to eat together to enable you to taste a larger variety of dishes and enjoy each other's company. 6 breakfasts are included in Morocco.
Day 1: Barcelona
Arrive in Barcelona Airport, hop in a taxi, and make your way through the vibrant streets to your starting accommodation. Later, meet your guide and the rest of your group and head out for drinks in El Raval, El Born, or The Gothic Quarter - cervezas all round!
Day 2: Barcelona to Madrid
We'll take you on an orientation walk along Las Ramblas this morning, for some stellar window shopping and top-class snacking. Later, take a stroll down the boardwalk in La Barceloneta or check out the Gothic Quarter ahead of an afternoon train to Madrid.
Day 3: Madrid
Take an orientation walk round some of the capital's highlights. Visit the Reina Sofia National Art Museum, walk in the footsteps of kings and queens at the Palacio Real or spend some time people-watching on Gran Via - Madrid's most exciting street.
Day 4: Madrid to Granada
Grab a coffee in one of Madrid's plazas, take a walk through Retiro Park, or stop for a snack at Mercado de San Ildefonso. This afternoon we're headed to Granada. Kick off with a stroll through Albaicin at sunset for stunning colour-washed views over the Alhambra.
Day 5: Granada
Get to know the city better with a guided orientation walk, then kick back in one of the many hammam baths, visit quaint Sacromonte, or catch a flamenco show. This evening, get stuck into a tapas bar crawl for a real flavour of the city. We'll get the first round in.
Day 6: Granada / Seville
We're hitting the road again to sunny Seville. Visit the Real Alcázar, head up the Golden Tower, take a day trip to Ronda or spend an afternoon in the charming Santa Cruz Quarter. This evening, feel the heat of a flamenco performance -there's no better place to see it.
Day 7: Seville to Lagos, Algarve
Make tracks for the beautiful Algarve Coast today. Slap on some sunscreen, grab your swimmers and head to one of the five dazzling beaches around Lagos. If you're feeling active, how about a coastal hike along the famous golden cliffs?
Day 8: Algarve
Today's yours to spend as you choose. If you're the adventurous type there are tons of water sports on offer, and more hiking routes than you've had hot dinners. If you'd prefer to take it easy, cop a spot on one of the beautiful beaches and soak up the sun all day long.
Day 9: Lagos to Lisbon
Hop on the train and head up the coast to the bustling capital. We'll kick off with an orientation walk. Then pick up a pastel de nata, visit the characterful Belém District, or ride the Santa Justa Lift for fab views. The nightlife here is next level, so get ready to go large after dark!
Day 10: Lisbon to Casablanca (Morocco)
The Morocco leg of your adventure starts today! Fly to Casablanca where you can visit Africa's largest mosque, or explore the dynamic modern city.
Day 11: Casablanca to Chefchaouen (via Rabat)
Travel up the coast to Morocco's capital. Explore the ramparts and the winding streets, soak up spectacular views from Kasbah des Oudaias, then continue towards the beautiful blue walls of Chefchaouen, one of the prettiest towns in Morocco.
Day 12: Chefchaouen
You'll have plenty of free time today to explore charming Chefchaouen. If you're up for some action, pull on your hiking boots and join our optional trek into the Rif Valley Mountains, one of the best hiking routes in Africa.
Day 13: Chefchaouen to Fez
Say goodbye to the beautiful blue town before continuing on to the ancient city of Fes. Explore the old medina, hit the Ville Nouvelle for a taste of the modern side of the city, or grab a mint tea and watch the charming chaos of the city streets unfold.
Day 14: Fez
Practice your haggling skills in the souks today, pick up some leather souvenirs, and explore the colourful tanneries. There's an optional guided tour of the medina, and this evening, we've got a traditional dinner with belly dancing in a Moroccan palace on offer - magical.
Day 15: Fez to Marrakech
Arrive in Marrakesh and head to the iconic Djemaa el Fna Market Square for snake-charmers, magicians and delicious street food, or hit the souks for some more bartering practice.
Day 16: Trip end
It's the last day so why not round off with something really special? Take an optional hot air balloon ride over the city as the sun comes up. After that, your amazing adventure comes to an end. Make your way to the airport or continue your travels in Morocco. See you soon!

Arrival Information:
Your trip starts in Barcelona on day 1. Fly into Barcelona El Prat de Llobregat Airport (BCN) and make your own way to your starting accommodation. The airport is not too far from the city and taxi takes 20 – 25 minutes, depending on traffic. No activities have been planned for today apart from the welcome meeting in the evening, so arrive at a time that suits you.
Your trip ends in Marrakech on day 16. You can depart at any time. Return airport transfers are not included, but your tour guide can help you arrange these.

The minimum age to join this trip is 18. This trip is designed for 18- to 39-year-olds.
