Accommodation
26 nights’ shared accommodation are included on this trip. You’ll stay in:
- Simple hotels (twin-share) - 20 nights
- Surf camp dorms (multi-share) – 2 nights
- Homestay (multi-share) - 2 nights
- Sleeper train (multi-share) - 1 night
The rooms that you will be staying in are typical backpacker-style accommodation, often with shared facilities, so you can try out a taste of authentic Asia - it's all part of the travel experience! Some nights on this tour will be multi-share. This may involve 4-6 group members sharing a room. In some major cities in Malaysia and Singapore, hotel rooms do not have windows.
During the Cianjur homestay, you’ll stay in a big house. Up to 5 travellers will be sharing each room, and there are 3 bathroom facilities to be shared by the group.
During the Ngadas homestay, the group will be divided amongst a number of houses in the community. Each family will host 2-3 travellers. You’ll stay in small rooms with beds and bedding provided. Showers are separate and warm water should be available. Please note that towels and toiletries are not provided so be sure to bring your own.
At the surf camp in Red Island, you’ll stay in dorm-style rooms with en suite bathroom facilities and up to 6 people per room.
Meals
22 breakfasts, 2 lunches, and 2 dinners are included. Asia is famous for its street food and delicious, spicy dishes so you’ll never be far from your next feed! Two street food crawls are included on this tour and your guide will point you in the direction of the tastiest local meals.
Day 1: Begin in Bangkok
Your adventure starts today with a welcome meeting planned for this evening. Get to know your group and trip leader for the first time before heading out to celebrate and experience the magic of Bangkok at night.
Day 2: Explore Bangkok
Enjoy a free day to discover Bangkok at your own pace, before meeting up this evening for a street food crawl around one of the city's top markets. An overnight train is included tonight to Surat Thani.
Day 3: Khao Sok National Park
After our sleeper train, we'll start the morning enjoying breakfast with a view at a traditional farm right by the mountains. Once we've arrived into Khao Sok National Park, the day is yours to freely explore. This evening, we'll stay inside rustic jungle huts.
Day 4: Koh Samui
Island paradise is calling your name! Today we're travelling via private vehicle and a ferry to reach Koh Samui: an enchanted getaway off Thailand's east coast. Catch the sunset on the sandy stretches of Chaweng Beach, before hitting up one of the island's finest beach bars. Enjoy a drink on us and get ready to party the night away!
Day 5: Ang Thong National Marine Park
Escape to the turquoise shores on our scenic day trip today. Home to more than 40 unspoiled islands, the stunning vistas inside this park will take your breath away. With so many colourful marine creatures waiting to be discovered, snorkelling by the beach is an absolute must!
Day 6: Koh Samui to George Town (Malaysia)
Ready to tick a new country off your Southeast Asia bucket list? Today we're crossing the border into Malaysia, so kick back and relax ahead of your free night in George Town on Penang Island. As the melting pot of Malaysia, George Town is where you can experience some of the country's finest nightlife, street food and vibrant architecture!
Day 7: George Town
Enjoy a free day to explore George Town. In the heart of the city, you'll find stunning urban murals and hidden retro bars. For a change of scenery, visiting either Kek Lok Si Temple or Penang Hill is highly recommended.
Day 8: Chenderoh Lake homestay
Get to know another side of Malaysia today as we arrive at our lakeside homestay. Freely explore the beautiful scenery and experience what life is like inside a traditional Kampong village.
Day 9: Cameron Highlands
Bursting with bright emerald landscapes, discovering the Cameron Highlands for the first time is pure magic. Enjoy free time to visit the tea plantations or the mossy forest at your own pace.
Day 10: Cameron Highlands to Kuala Lumpur
Our journey continues to Malaysia's sensational capital, Kuala Lumpur, where you can freely explore upon arrival. Rooftop bars and shopping malls meet colourful laneways inside this epic city that never sleeps. Amazing nightlife, stunning art galleries, unmissable temples... You name it, and Kuala Lumpur has it!
Day 11: Kuala Lumpur
Explore Kuala Lumpur at your own pace today, whether you feel like staying inside the city or heading just outside to visit the Batu Caves and its rainbow steps. Tonight, you can head to the rooftop bars for a night of drinks and dancing, or try a whole new variety of flavours at the famous night markets.
Day 12: Kuala Lumpur to Malacca
Today we'll visit a vibrant port town called Malacca, famed for its traditional river canals and atmospheric backstreets filled with hole-in-the-wall gems, as well as its bustling Chinatown (also known as Jonker Walk).
Day 13: Malacca to Singapore
Next stop, Singapore! From the moment we arrive, this city-state is all yours to freely explore. Catch the dazzling light show by the Gardens of the Bay, get a taste of Singapore's world-famous hawker stalls for delicious street food and dive into this destination's magical ambience.
Day 14: Singapore to Jakarta (Indonesia)
Tick another country off your travel bucket list today as we take an included flight to Jakarta, Indonesia's larger-than-life capital city. Enjoy a free evening to chill and explore the local area.
Day 15: Jakarta to Bandung
Our journey continues to Bandung today, an incredible base for exploring Indonesia's breathtaking countryside. Enjoy an orientation walk upon arrival and start experiencing the best of Bandung for yourself, including its gorgeous cafes, shops and restaurants which are idyllic for unwinding with a view.
Day 16: Tea plantation
Escape into the rolling hills, filled with cascading tea gardens and misty mountains. Today we'll spend the day exploring a local plantation and learning how tea is traditionally produced here. After, we'll hike to a nearby waterfall and relax in hot springs.
Day 17: Bandung to Yogyakarta
Today we're taking the scenic route to Yogyakarta (also known as "Jogja"), so kick back and let the world pass you by on one of Indonesia's most magical train rides. Enjoy a free evening to explore the famous Sospowijayan and Prawirotaman streets, home to some of the city's best foodie spots and bars.
Day 18: Explore Yogyakarta
Enjoy a free day to discover Yogyakarta's epic highlights. From awe-inspiring temples, including the biggest Buddhist complex in the entire world, to stunning palaces, delicious street food and cosy cafes, there's adventure around every corner here.
Day 19: Yogyakarta free day
Continue exploring Yogyakarta at your leisure today. Now's a great chance to experience more of the local culture and discover the city's wealth of world heritage sites.
Day 20: Ngadas homestay
Today we'll travel further east, taking in the views of vast green valleys and hilltop villages along the way. Our next stop is the traditional homestay in the Ngadas village, home to the indigenous Tengger tribe. Enjoy a delicious dinner as we immerse ourselves in the local culture and learn about the region's unique history.
Day 21: Ancestor Trail trek
This morning we'll start our journey to the smokey crater of Mount Bromo, one of Indonesia's most impressive volcanos. We'll wander through the local village and pass through the farmlands before reaching the historic Ancestor Trail. This pilgrimage route is filled with remote scenery that will take your breath away.
Day 22: Mount Bromo sunrise hike
It's an early rise this morning as we hike across the Sea of Sand under the moonlight glow. Nothing can prepare you for Mount Bromo's extraordinary beauty, especially as the sun starts to rise! Later today, we'll leave Mount Bromo behind for our beachside surf camp on Red Island.
Day 23: Red Island surf camp
Named after its pink-tinted shores, Red Island is easily one of Indonesia's best-kept secrets. There's no better way to start the day than with a surfing lesson; whether you're a total beginner or a pro, those crashing waves are made to be explored. After perfecting your technique, enjoy a free day to recharge.
Day 24: Pemuteran beaches (Bali)
Bali is right around the corner! Today we'll travel onwards to Indonesia's most iconic island, arriving with plenty of time to soak up the sunshine, enjoy a few drinks or go snorkelling in the crystal-clear waters.
Day 25: Pemuteran free day
Wake up in paradise and enjoy an entire day to explore Pemuteran however you like. Now's the perfect time to unwind, whether that means a beach day, indulging at a spa or discovering the breathtaking temples in the local area.
Day 26: Pemuteran to Kuta
Enjoy a chilled morning in Pemuteran before we travel further east through Bali, crossing past tropical rainforests and emerald rice fields as part of the journey. Our final stop is Kuta: a beachside town famed for its party scene. First drinks are on us - get ready to celebrate all night!
Day 27: Finish trip in Kuta
Your adventure ends here, and travellers are welcome to depart at any time. If you would like any assistance in booking onward or return travel, your trip leader can help you out.

Arrival Information:
Please arrange your arrival into Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok in time for a late afternoon welcome meeting on day 1. The tour ends in Kuta, Bali, Indonesia on day 27. You can depart at any time.
